Dr. Albin’s therapy approach can be described as holistic, taking a mind and body approach in addressing psychological concerns. Incorporating Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Positive and Organizational psychology and Yoga Therapy into the sessions. We approach each session with a unique goal for your own needs with a 4 part approach to therapy focusing on Thoughts, Behaviors, Emotions, Physical Sensations.
Dr. Albin has her Ph.D is in Clinical Health Psychology from Albert Einstein, YU, Her masters in Developmental Psychology from Columbia University and has a BBA in Banking and Finance from Hofstra University. Before perusing a career in Psychology she worked in finance and was a corporate trainer. Dr. Albin is an expert in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She authored the “Official Idiot’s Guide to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy” and has published and participated in many panels including the United Nations on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy .
Dr. Albin is a trained Kundalini Yoga Instructor and is an expert in treatment of anxiety and body image disorder. Dr. Albin authored “Treating Fear of Flying using Virtual Reality And Biofeedback Therapy: She is a trained biofeedback and EMDR therapist.
Dr. Albin trained at the 3 major teaching hospitals in NYC including the Anxiety Related, Impulsive and Compulsive Disorder Clinic at Mount Sinai, The Anxiety Outpatient Center at Cornell, the body Dysmporphia program at Mount Sinai and the Anxiety and Mood Disorder Unit at Columbia University.
We incorporate Cognitive Therapy, focusing on how one thinks and the attitudes they carry-Working to challenge faulty, irrational or less than optimal thinking and decision styles. Behavior therapy looking at behaviors such as avoidance , over indulgence, aggression and how they contribute to problems. We look for positive behaviors and and creating positive actions using exposure and out of session homework to create positive, healthy, life building Habits. We look at Emotions (negative and positive and there connection to Physical Sensations and stored emotions in the body.
Our sessions can be talk therapy focused, include home work, exposure, deep relaxation strategies and emotionally releasing and empowering processing sessions that include visualizations, connecting to core schema, stored emotions and strategies to desensitize and reprocess information that is holding you back!.
