Self Esteem
Self-esteem is a personís overall appraisal of his or her self-worth and affects a personís behaviors, social interactions, and overall well-being.
People with low self-esteem lack confidence in their social relationships have feelings of failure, are unable to assert themselves and exhibit dependent behaviors. They may act defensively and lose their temper easily, blame themselves or others for their shortcomings or problems and have a generally low feeling of self-worth. People with low self worth often avoid setting goals and avoid challenging situations that might lead to success.
Low self-esteem can originate in childhood and continue to affect your view throughout adulthood. CBT therapy challenges negative beliefs about the clients self, what they expect from relationships and learn how to set goals based on hopeful outcome.
